Beyond Law of Attraction

You might have heard of Law of Attraction before - like attracts like, we attract what we are, think positive thoughts will attract positive outcomes. For example, if you want to have a new car, think about how you would feel if you already have it, the color of the car, where you would drive it, who you would drive it with and so on. It’s a wonderful tool for manifesting your desires. Often it’s where our spiritual path begins and we realize that life doesn’t need to be that hard and it can feel good and easy.

As we continue our spiritual path, sometimes we start to question ourselves if there is something more than that. Take myself as an example. I used Law of Attraction to manifest a partner into my life. He is kind, successful, mature, consistent, has almost everything I wanted. But something was missing - I should have put spiritual connection into the list, I want someone more than that. Once my desire is fulfilled, another desire will show up, it’s an endless loop and I’m still unhappy. Happiness is always somewhere else, I need to get more to be happy - that’s exactly where unhappiness comes from. Eventually, I realize I don’t need a partner/relationship to be happy, I actually enjoy spending time alone, a partner is just cherry on top - I’m fine either way.

We all want to be happy and avoid suffering. There are two ways as far as I can see. One is making everything to be exactly what we want it be, constantly chasing happiness externally. Good luck with that - any little things can ruin your happiness, for example someone looks at you in an unfriendly way, traffic jams, anything you have no control of. The other one is to find happiness within regardless of external circumstances. Happiness is a choice, and the outside world is a reflection of our inner world. It’s not easy but it’s possible. Nobody can push your buttons if you don’t have any. It’s a process of looking inward, working on our fears and limiting beliefs. And it’s a life-long journey.

May you find happiness within and live with inner freedom.
